Demat Accounts: The country’s stock market is continuously attracting investors. Seeing the opportunity to make money in equity through mutual funds, investors are increasingly adopting mutual fund investments and for this, demat account is the first requirement. For this reason, the number of people opening demat accounts is increasing day by day, quadrupled and the result of this is coming out in the increasing figures of demat accounts.
Demat accounts increased to 16.2 crore in June
The number of demat accounts in the country has increased by 42 lakh to 16.2 crore in June. Motilal Oswal Financial Services has informed in the report on Thursday that the total demat accounts have increased to 162 million in June 2024. In the current financial year, an average of 34 lakh demat accounts have been opened every month. According to the report of Motilal Oswal Financial Services, the market share of Central Depositories Services Limited (CDSL) in the total number of demat accounts is continuously increasing.
It was told in the report that in terms of total number of demat accounts, the market share of National Security Depositories Limited (NSDL) has fallen by 4.3 percent on an annual basis. The number of active clients on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has increased by 3.1 percent on a monthly basis and has reached 4.42 crore in June.
5 top discount brokers have 64.4 percent active clients of NSE
At present, the country’s top five discount brokers have 64.4 percent active clients of NSE. This figure was 58.2 percent in June 2022. The reason for opening a large number of demat accounts in India is the increasing inclination of the general public towards the stock market. Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) index Sensex has given returns of more than 10 percent to investors since the beginning of this year.
Zerodha’s client base increased so much
The client base of online brokerage firm Zerodha increased by 2.1 percent on monthly basis to 77 lakh. However, its market share has fallen by 0.20 percent to 17.3 percent.
Groww’s client base increased so much
Grow’s client base has increased by 5.4 percent to 1.09 crore. Its market share has increased by 0.55 percent to 24.7 percent. Angel One’s client base has increased by 3.4 percent.
