New Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has got a big relief from the Supreme Court in the money laundering case related to Delhi liquor scam. The apex court has granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal in the case related to ED. During the hearing, the bench of two judges also made many important comments. Especially on the question of Arvind Kejriwal continuing on the post of Chief Minister, the Supreme Court has said something important. Let us tell you that Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 after a long interrogation. The Supreme Court had also granted him interim bail to take part in the campaign during the Lok Sabha elections.
A two-judge bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta on Friday heard the petition of Arvind Kejriwal arrested in the money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor scam. During this, the issue of Arvind Kejriwal continuing as the Chief Minister of Delhi was also raised. The Supreme Court made it clear that only Arvind Kejriwal himself can take the decision to leave the post of Chief Minister. The court will not make any comment in this matter. Also, the Supreme Court sent Arvind Kejriwal’s case to a larger bench.
Arvind Kejriwal got relief, Supreme Court granted interim bail, but there is a problem in coming out of jail.
Larger bench will consider the issue of arrest
Actually, ED had arrested CM Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in the money laundering case related to Delhi liquor scam. Arvind Kejriwal has challenged the action of the investigating agency in the Supreme Court, terming his arrest illegal. His petition was heard by a special bench of the Supreme Court. The two-judge bench said that the legal aspects related to this issue need to be considered more seriously and referred Kejriwal’s case to a larger bench. Now CJI DY Chandrachud will constitute a larger bench. Also, the special bench said that till the case is not heard, interim bail is given to Arvind Kejriwal. However, the Supreme Court made it clear that the larger bench can make amendments or improvements in the interim bail.
Arvind Kejriwal will not be able to come out of jail
The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal in ED related cases. Despite this, Kejriwal will not be able to come out of jail at present. Actually, Arvind Kejriwal is in CBI custody in a corruption case related to the repealed excise policy of Delhi. Let us tell you that earlier the trial court had also granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case. Later the Delhi High Court put a stay.
