New Delhi:
A group of BJP rebels from Karnataka reached Delhi on Monday, demanding Vijayendra’s national president JP Nadda through direct intervention from the party’s national president.
Along with former MLA Kumar Bangarappa and Shrimant Patil, the rebel faction led by MLA Ramesh Jerkiholi arrived in Delhi with a plan to stay for two days and to secure the audience with Nadda.
Sources indicate that more MLAs, including Basangauda Patil Yatna and BP Harish, are expected to join the delegation on Tuesday, including Arvind Limbavali and Pratab Simha, along with former MLAs.
Under the leadership of Vijaypura MLA Yatnal, the rebellious group alleged that Mr. Vijayendra’s leadership had recently been ineffective citing the election deficit.
They accuse them of “adjusting politics” and do not oppose aggressively for the Congress government.
Sources said the rebels are “strategically” to their move, the upcoming state party expects to force the leadership to change the leadership before the presidential elections.
He has indicated to field a candidate against Mr. Vijayendra. If his demands are not met, a step that can potentially harm the party’s internal harmony.
The group’s confidence in achieving the audience with JP Nadda is impressed by his recent meeting with the party leader Limbavali.
Prior to his visit to Delhi, rebel leaders also demanded divine intervention, visiting the Chamundeshwari temple in Massuru to seek blessings for their political mission.
While his previous attempt to meet JP NEDDA last month was unsuccessful, despite the Delhi Assembly elections and the budget session, the current delegation remains optimistic.
