Land sinking near Shimla’s historic Ridge Ground, 120 year old tank in danger, orders to vacate 15 shops

Shimla. Shimla, capital of Himachal Pradesh (Shimla Rains) Due to continuous rains now the ground near the historic ridge ground has started sinking. Big cracks here, just below the Padma Palace along the ridge ground. Cracks Are visible. In such a situation, the administration has now evacuated 15 shops from here.

In fact, due to land subsidence along the historic ridge ground, the 120 year old water tank built here is also in danger. On Thursday, Shimla Mayor Surendra Chauhan and AP Mehboob Shaikh along with Councilor Alok Pathania inspected the area and declared the area unsafe and gave instructions to vacate the shops.

Mayor Surendra Chauhan said that there was information about cracks in the area adjacent to the Ridge Ground. After this we have come here to inspect it. There are a lot of cracks here and steps will be taken at all times to secure this area. This area has been declared unsafe and all the shops here have been asked to vacate, after which geological survey will also be conducted here and this area will be made safe. He said that there is a water tank along with it and water is leaking from the water tank. Investigation will also be done inside the tank.

Landslide had happened earlier also

Let us tell you that the low lying area along the ridge comes in the sinking zone. Earlier, landslides had also occurred in the front part of the Gaiety Theater on the Ridge and in the Tibetan Market. Similarly, cracks are appearing on the roads at many places towards Lakkar Bazaar also. At the same time, now a part has started sinking further. It is being told that the debris that came out during the construction of the tank was thrown here and kutcha shops were built on top of it and now this land is continuously sinking. There are 15 typical shops here, which provide tea and food.
