Mamta supported teachers and employees, who lost the job after SC decision, ‘ready to go to jail’ – CNBC TV18

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced unwavering support for 25,753 school teachers and employees, whose appointments were told by the Supreme Court, saying that he is “ready to go to jail” to stand by him.

Speaking at a meeting with affected candidates and school staff in Kolkata, Banerjee assured that the state government would ensure the continuity of employment for those who are eligible.

He said, “I will stand with those who have lost their jobs unjustly. I don’t care what others think. I will do everything to restore your dignity.”

PTI stated, “We have separate plans to ensure that eligible candidates do not face any brakes in service. We will not let them remain unemployed.”

His comment follows the Supreme Court’s 3 April verdict, which upheld the 2022 order of the Calcutta High Court, which canceled the recruitment of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff in state-driven and aided schools.

In 2016, the appointments made by the West Bengal School Services Commission were declared “vitated and tent Beyond Resolution” as per ANI, due to large -scale fraud and manipulation.

Conspiracy against education system: Mamta

Banerjee alleged that there was a comprehensive conspiracy to end the education structure in Bengal. He said, “A conspiracy is going on to destroy the education system … Teachers of class 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th are entrances to higher education … Many are gold medalists, they have achieved great results in their lives, and you are calling them thieves,” he said, ANI said.

Disappointing him over the verdict, he said, “The decision that has come cannot be taken in a positive way. I can be put in jail for what I am saying but I do not care about it.”

“I am also ready to go to jail, if someone wants to punish me to stand with those who lost school jobs,” he said.

The CM also expressed concern over the absence of a clear difference between the eligible and unqualified candidates, saying, “The Supreme Court has not given a list of qualified and disqualified. The state government did not get an opportunity to separate this list.”

Mamta confirmed that senior legal experts including Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Kapil Sibal and Prashant Bhushan are now representing the state in the matter. “As long as I am alive, I am not letting any qualified person lose my job,” he said as ANI.
