New Delhi. Shan Masood will remain the captain of Pakistan Test team. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and coach Jason Gillespie have expressed confidence in Shan Masood as the Test captain of the national team before the busy international season, but the decision on Babar Azam’s captaincy in limited overs cricket will be taken later. Pakistan has to host England in a three-match Test in October this year while it also has to face Bangladesh, South Africa and West Indies.
The PCB held a meeting on Wednesday in which senior board officials, national selectors, Jason Gillespie, white-ball coach Gary Kirsten, assistant coach Azhar Mahmood participated. And during this, the team’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup was also discussed. A source aware of the developments said, ‘The meeting was held to discuss ways to prepare a comprehensive blueprint for the national team in red and white ball formats.’ Masood, who took over as Test captain before the Australia tour earlier this year, got full support.
