283 Indian citizens who were victims of fake job proposals in Myanmar have been rescued and departed from the country.
Indian embassies in Myanmar and Thailand have coordinated with local authorities that they on Monday said the Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft from Mae SOT of Thailand to secure the repatriation of Indian citizens, said the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea).
The ministry said that India is constantly making efforts to secure the release and repatriation of its citizens to various Southeast Asian countries including Myanmar, including fake job proposals.
“These individuals were later designed to indulge in cyber crime and engage in other fraud activities in scam centers working in areas along the Myanmar-Thailand border,” it said.
The government has wished to take its precautions, which was aired from time to time and from social media posts, about such a racket, said this.
The MEA said in a statement, “Indian citizens are once again advised to check the credibility of foreign employers through missions and to check the ancestors to recruit agents and companies before offering jobs.”
