On Thursday, a sub-branch of the Munak Canal developed a crack in North Delhi’s Bawana area.
The Carrier Lined Channel (CLC) of the Munak Canal, which is a part of the Western Yamuna Canal, leading to Bawana collapsed, causing flooding in nearby areas.
Addressing the press conference, Delhi Water Minister Atishi said, “This morning, a sub-branch of the Munak Canal has cracked. The Delhi Jal Board is working in close coordination with the Haryana Irrigation Department to repair the Munak Canal. “Maintains.” Water has been sent to another sub-branch of the canal. The repair work has started and will be completed by today afternoon. The broken sub-branch of the canal will be operational from tomorrow.”
Inspecting the situation, Delhi Flood Control Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said that he got information about the embankment breach in the night. He also asked the Chief Engineer of the Flood Department to go there and help the Delhi Jal Board officials.
“The CLC (Carrier Lined Channel) comes to Bawana which brings water from Haryana. We got information about the embankment breach in the night. Delhi Jal Board officials are there. I have asked the chief engineer of the flood department to go there and If the flood department can help the water board in any way, we will do that,â Bhardwaj said.
Alam, a resident of JJ Colony, said water has entered every block of the colony and the administration is not making much effort to maintain the flow.
“Water has entered almost every block of JJ Colony. The barrage of Munak canal broke around midnight. The administration, especially the irrigation department, is not doing enough to stop the flow… Local leaders came to see There were, but till now nothing has happened which should have happened,” he said.
Speaking on the preparedness of the flood department, Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “Last time, the level of Yamuna had risen so much that it broke the barrage here and entered the city. This year the flood department is well prepared. New machinery has been installed.
