New Delhi:
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to America “very well” and underlined that chemistry was also good between him and President Donald Trump in Washington. PM Modi paid an official working journey in the US on 12-13 February, during which the two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral issues.
“I am doing this throughout my life, so I have some reference points, and have some experience as a comparative evaluation. And, I would all say with fairness, I thought, it went very well, it went very well, And for various reasons, “Mr. Jaishankar said that during a conversation at an event late evening in response to a query on PM Modi’s US visit.
The minister of external affairs said that people know that PM Modi is a “very strong nationalist, and he radiation”.
“Trump is an American nationalist, and I think nationalists respect each other in many ways. They are very clear. They are in it for their country, Trump admits that Modi is for India, Modi is in it, Modi Admit that Trump is for the US, “he said.
“But the purpose of the meeting is to say, okay, how do we find some work, what is the general basis, something we can do together that makes both of us strong,” said Mr. Jaishankar.
The conversation was organized by Sanjeev Sanyal during the Du Literature Festival at the Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) by Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council.
“Second I felt … Chemistry was good. Then, Trump is some unusual, there are many other leaders in the world, with whom he is not necessarily positive history. Now the case of modiji, it is not, it is not. Not the case (Trump) a great journey (for India), he recalled, “said the Foreign Minister.
Mr. Jaishankar also referred to a picture book in the first term of President Trump, and said, he was told to Trump “selected photos himself after the end of his tenure”.
And, the maximum number of pictures were “about India”, he said, adding it, was also a picture of the ‘Namaste Trump’ incident held at Motra Stadium in Ahmedabad during his visit in 2020.
“Clearly, he had a very well memory and felt about the earlier tenure,” said Mr. Jaishankar.
“President Trump has a vision that America’s interests are, what he wants and he wants from a relationship with us. We have the same. We also have demands …, opportunities with America. Therefore,, so, I think there was a very open discussion about all of them, and I would have to say, it was held with a lot of God, talent, harmony, “he said.
The book ‘What Mobat Matters’, published last year, was discussed.
The Minister of External Affairs was asked about the reference to the epic Ramayana in the context of the book, and he displayed Lord Rama’s Kaushal and Lord Hanuman’s strategic ideas during a visit to Lanka to save Mother Sita from Ravana.
“Today when we see the world and we assess other countries, Ravana is an example, what will I say strategic decency.
“… then, his discovery … lack of restraint. The fact that, he is not opposed, not able … he has been taken away, so, I think, each of these characteristics when you Apply them to the real world, you can see some familiarity from there, “he said without detail.
When asked by an audience member about the situation in Bangladesh, Mr. Jaishankar said, “They are a neighbor, they have to make their mind, what kind of relationship they want with us. We have sent a very clear sign, we have sent a very clear signal Want things to calm down. ” “Our rise raises people,” he said another question on the rise of India.
