Nintendo Switch 2 was unveiled in January, but official details about the hardware specifications and features of the hybrid console are not yet available. The first looking trailer for the device highlights its design, port selection and new joy-connism, but wrap other details. Federal Communication Commission (FCC) filing, however, it turns out that Nintendo Switch 2 will support Field Communication (NFC) and Wi-Fi 6. The filing also confirms that the switch 2 will be charged through the new second USB Type-C port on top of the device.
FCC filing switch 2 details
Documents in FCC filing (Viewed by Ruckus) Confirm that the RFID feature will be present on the correct joy con of Nintendo Switch 2 as its predecessor. In filing, Switch 2 tolerates the designation bee-001, while the right and left joy-cakes are referred to as BEE-014 and Bee-012 respectively.
The filing suggests that the console will get Wi-Fi 6 support up to 80mHz bandwidth-upgrade on Wi-Fi 5 of the Nintando switch. Documents suggest that Switch 2 is rated for a maximum of 15V AC adapter, which is similar to the original switch. However, the 20th AC adapter is also mentioned in the filing.
Additionally, the filing suggests that the second USB Type-C Port Console seen at the top of the switch 2 in the first-look trailer can be used to charge. The switch came with a single USB Type-C port on the floor.
Last month, the render of Switch 2 leaked to show its design from different angles. Switch 2 is rumored to come up with a more powerful dock than its predecessor. A nintendo patent published in February also suggested that the new joy-class would have a new magnetic connection mechanism, as is evident in the trailer of the console. Switch 2 has dug up its preceding sliding railway mechanism to connect the device to the device in favor of the snap-on mechanism.
Meanwhile, Nintendo, yet to share hardware specifications and details on console capabilities, is set to host a nintendo direct presentation on Switch 2 on 2 April. Nintendo Switch 2 was revealed on 16 January and would launch some time in 2025.
