Nityananda Ashram land dispute: CBSE recognition of DPS cancelled, read the whole matter

Ahmedabad: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday canceled the affiliation of Delhi Public School (DPS) located near here for violating government rules by leasing out land for the ashram of controversial self-styled godman Swami Nithyananda.

CBSE, in an order, said that a report given by the Gujarat government stated that the school located in Hirapur, outside Ahmedabad, obtained CBSE recognition through ‘fake NOC’. On the basis of this report, the recognition of the school is ‘canceled with immediate effect’.

The board allowed students of classes 10 and 12 to appear for the 2020 board exams and students of classes 9 and 11 to transfer to nearby CBSE-affiliated schools.

The order said that the school has also said that the land given to the religious institution is not a part of the school campus. This statement is contrary to the investigation results of the State Education Department.
