Mumbai:
According to a dress code announced on Tuesday, devotees will not be allowed to wear short skirts or reveal clothes from next week.
Shri Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust (SSGTT) said that devotees would have to wear civilized and body -covered clothes, preferably decent Indian dress. From next week, devotees will not be allowed to enter the temple located in Prabhadevi area, wearing revelations or improper dress, SSGTT said.
The trust said that the decision of the dress code followed several complaints about improper clothes, causing inconvenience to other devotees.
The order states that devotees will not be allowed inside the temple with cutting or torn clothes, short skirts, or clothes that expose body parts with clothes.
The trust said that the temple attracts thousands of devotees daily from across the country and many visitors had expressed concern about the dress that they felt that the place of worship was derogatory in the place of worship.
“After repeatedly receiving the request, the temple trust decided to implement the dress code to preserve the sanctity of the temple,” it said.
The trust clarified that the dress code is being introduced to ensure that all the devotees feel comfortable to maintain decorations during their journey and within the temple complex.
