The Odisha Cabinet has approved five major proposals during its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday.
The Cabinet has approved increasing the minimum wages of unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and high skilled workers to Rs 450, Rs 500, Rs 550 and Rs 600 from Rs 352, Rs 392, Rs 442 and Rs 502 respectively. ,
Speaking to media persons after the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said, âThe second proposal was related to the issue of Oriya identity under the Department of Oriya Language, Literature and Culture. Today’s Cabinet meeting created a corpus fund of Rs 200 crore to encourage the revival of Odia identity and promotion and dissemination of art, literature, architecture, culture and heritage of Odisha.
Majhi further said that the corpus fund will be spent for the construction of Oriya Asmita Bhawan, Oriya Translation Academy, construction of world class manuscript museum, development of Paik Mutiny Memorial (Paik Mutiny Memorial), steps to take it to international level. Recognition of Bali Yatra, Artist Gaurav Nidhi Scheme, financial incentives for training of Odissi dance and music, creation of Odia Chair in international and national universities, establishment of e-Granthalaya and e-Library at the district level etc.
He said that the concerned department has been asked to prepare detailed guidelines and a committee will also be formed for this. The cabinet also decided to increase the corpus amount if needed in future.
The Cabinet also decided to spend Rs 1044 crore in the coming five years to revive closed lift irrigation projects in the state and boost the capacity of ongoing irrigation projects. Many other major proposals of various departments were also approved in the cabinet meeting.
