Three migrant workers from Bihar have been arrested in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu for an alleged sexual attack of a migrant woman worker from Odisha.
According to police, the alleged criminals met the survivor, her husband and her child at Tiruppur railway station on the night of 17 February, when the family wanted to return to Odisha as they did not like their work in Coimbatore. However, the suspects took the family to their room, promising them to work in the factory where they worked.
At night, police say, the suspects sexually assaulted the woman at the knife and threatened the couple with serious consequences if they reveal the incident to anyone.
After a preliminary investigation, the Tiruppur police arrested the three and accused them of rape. A senior police officer told NDTV, “We have sent the survivor for a medical examination, and the investigation is going on.”
Tamil Nadu is watching a surge in late sexual offenses. While the ruling DMK claims that the accused have been arrested in each of these cases and the tests have accelerated, the opposition calls it a clear indication of the safety, law and decline in law.
