When is Pradosh Vrat?

According to Drik Panchang, Trayodashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month will start on 29th September at 04:47 PM and Pradosh Vrat will end on 30th September at 07:06 PM. Therefore, keeping in mind the Pradosh Kaal Puja Muhurat, Pradosh Vrat is being observed today.

Puja material list: On the day of Som Pradosh fast, for the worship of Shiva-Gauri, Roli, Mauli, Akshat, Bel leaves, Dhatura, Aak flowers, white sandalwood, Ganga water, honey, raw milk, fruits, flowers, incense sticks, naivedya, betel nuts, betel nuts. Collect all the puja materials including cloves, ghee, camphor, Panchmeva, Pradosh Vrat Katha book, Shiv Chalisa, Havan materials.

Som Pradosh Vrat: Worship Method

Wake up early in the morning on the day of Pradosh fast.

Wear clean clothes after bathing.

Meditate on Shiva-Gauri and worship them properly.

Offer water on Shivalinga.

After this, chant Lord Shiva’s seed mantra Om Namah Shivay 108 times.

Then keep the fast of Pradosh Vrat during the day and start Shiva puja in the evening.

If possible during Pradosh period, go to Shiva temple or worship Bholenath at home.

Offer all the worship materials including Belpatra, Aak flowers, Bhang, Dhatura on Shivalinga.

Recite Ravi Pradosh Vrat Katha. Read Shiv Chalisa.

Offer kheer, pudding, fruits and sweets to Lord Shiva.

In the end, perform aarti of all the gods and goddesses including Shiva and Gauri.

Then ask for forgiveness for the mistakes committed knowingly or unknowingly during the puja.
