For studies, Pyjoz and his colleagues surveyed a national representative sample of 10,000 adults in January 2024. For example, during the 2017 shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, the shooter killed 60 people and injured 413 others. But another 454 people were injured during the upcoming panic as people fled for security. Overall, the concert had around 22,000 people – along with the surrounding hotels on the Las Vegas strip.

The study did not explain how large -scale firing affects mental health, but Pyjoz and their colleagues are publishing an upcoming paper.

It was found that about three-fourths of people who were present in the scene of a collective shooting, but uninhabited still experienced psychological crisis, including fear, anxiety and depression. (For comparison, about 20% of people in the general population report these symptoms.)

Pyroz hopes that ongoing research will help fill a research difference around new, and understanding public health effects, which is a large -scale firing phenomenon.
