Jairam Ramesh On Manusmriti: Congress has once again cornered the Central Government after the proposal to teach ‘Manusmriti’ in Delhi University (DU) was rejected. Congress on Friday (July 12) said that this ‘gimmick cannot be fooled’ and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have tried to assess the situation through this development. Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that in such a situation no one should harbor any illusions.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that one should not be under any illusion as this is the ‘standard operating procedure’ of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and is just the beginning. He has called it a trial balloon.

Jairam Ramesh wrote on social media platform A proposal was brought through the Law Faculty of Delhi University that Manusmriti should be taught. As it was bound to happen. There was strong protest and objections were registered. The Vice Chancellor of Delhi University rejected the proposal. The Education Minister supports him.

He further said, âNo one can be fooled by this drama. The ‘non-biological’ Prime Minister and the Education Minister have released a ‘trial balloon’ through this entire incident. Do not be under any kind of illusion. this is just the begining. Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh had said on Friday that the proposal to teach Manusmriti to LLB students was rejected as it was not found appropriate.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said that the Vice Chancellor has rejected the proposal to include Manusmriti in the law curriculum of Delhi University and no such plan was supported.
