‘Pakistan government will conduct military operations from PoK to Balochistan…’, effect of China’s threat

Pakistan Government Launch Operation: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has decided to conduct a military operation to end the growing insurgency and terrorism in the country. During this, the National Action Plan Committee under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved ‘Operation Azm-e-Istehkaam’. The purpose of this operation is to end the increasing terrorism in Pakistan. However, the Pakistan government has taken this decision after the threat from China.

Actually, this campaign will be run in all the states of Pakistan along with Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir. However, other opposition parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the party of former PM of Pakistan, have strongly opposed it. All parties say that no advice has been taken from Parliament for this operation.

Know what is Military Operation Ajm-e-Istehkaam?

According to the report of Pakistan’s media outlet Tribune, the objective of Operation Azm-e-Istehkaam is to end the growing extremism and terrorism in the country. This operation of the military forces will proceed with all the legal agencies. In this, laws will be made to remove legal loopholes that hinder terrorism related cases. This fight against terrorism is Pakistan’s own war. In this, no one from Pakistan will be given permission to challenge the authority of the state.

Decision taken under pressure from China

Terrorists are continuously damaging China’s ambitious project CPAC in Pakistan. There were 2 terrorist attacks in the month of March this year. The work of carrying out this attack was done by Baloch Liberation Army. This organization had killed five Chinese engineers by attempting to infiltrate the Gwadar Port Authority Complex and blasting a bomb targeting the convoy of Chinese engineers in Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Regarding this, recently Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, had held a meeting with the leaders of political parties of Pakistan in Islamabad. In which he strongly reprimanded the Pakistan government, however, after this the Chinese politician had a separate meeting with Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir. Only after this the Government of Pakistan gave approval to run the campaign against terrorism.
