Pakistan Train Hijack Live Update: 155 hostages freed, 27 rebels killed



Armed rebels on Tuesday freed at least 155 hostages after kidnapping more than 400 passengers in Pakistan’s rest Balochistan region. Passengers rescued, including 58 men, 31 women and 15 children, were taken to a nearby city, where a temporary hospital has been established. It is not clear how many hostages remain on the board.

The Jaffer Express was stopped by armed attackers in a tunnel in a remote area in a tunnel from Quetta to Peshawar – a route that was commissioned after a month’s suspension. The gunfight between the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the rebels of Pakistani forces continued overnight, killing at least 27 rebels.
