Police said that a 24 -year -old PhD scholar from the Indian Institute of Technology ended his life by hanging himself from the roof of his hostel room on Monday.
The incident came to light in the evening when the calls were made to Encit Yadav (24), a Noida resident, who was chasing PhD in Chemistry, was unanswered by his friends.
In trouble, Yadav’s hostel colleagues informed the IIT-Kanpur officials who alerted the police in return and reached the room, said Additional DCP (West) Vijendra Dwivedi.
“We came to know about the suicide around 5 pm, after which we reached there with the local police. By the time the police reached there, the IIT-Kanpur officials already took out the body after opening the door and A video shot. The proof, “the police officer told PTI.
A suicide note was found in the room in which Yadav said that he took the extreme step of his will and did not blame anyone for this.
Police said a forensic team was called to collect evidence.
The exact reason behind the suicide will be revealed only after an initial investigation, Dwivedi told PTI, the body has been sent for post -mortem and family members have also come to the institute.
