Pitru Paksha 2024 : In Sanatan Dharma, the time of Pitru Paksha is considered very important for the peace of ancestors and attainment of salvation. There is a religious belief that in this month the ancestors get salvation by performing Shraddha, Tarpan and Pind Daan. It is said that every year during Pitru Paksha, ancestors come to earth from Pitru Loka and are happy to perform Shraddha. Therefore, the activities of worshiping ancestors and offering tarpan are considered very good during Shraddha Paksha. According to Acharya Ashok Pandey, this year Pitru Paksha is starting from 17th September and will continue till 2nd October. During this time, Pitru Tarpan and Shraddha rituals are considered very important for the ancestors and forefathers in Ashwin Krishna Paksha. This brings happiness, prosperity and peace in life.
According to the Hindu calendar, Pitru Paksha starts from the full moon date of Bhadrapada month. According to astrologer Vibhor Indusut, this time many coincidences are taking place at the beginning of Shraddha Paksha. Usually, Shraddha starts from Bhadrapada Purnima, the next day of Anant Chaturdashi, but this time Anant Chaturdashi, Ganesh Visarjan and Purnima Shraddha are falling on the same day. Chaturdashi Tithi will last from sunrise to 11:44 am on 17th September. Therefore Anant Chaturdashi will be celebrated on this day. At the same time, after 11:44 minutes Purnima Tithi will start and Shraddha of Purnima will also start.
