Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the countrymen on the occasion of 76th Republic Day on Sunday.
In a post on Twitter, he prayed that this occasion would strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution.
“Happy Republic Day. Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We salute all the great women and men who created our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity and unity. May this opportunity strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution and working towards a strong and prosperous India,â the PM said.

President Draupadi Murmu will lead the nation in celebrating the 76th Republic Day from the line of duty in the national capital.
According to a government press release, marking 75 years of the enactment of the Constitution and with a special focus on public participation, this year’s celebrations will be a unique blend of India’s rich cultural diversity, unity, equality, development and military prowess.
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest.
In line with the government’s objective of increasing ‘public participation’ in events of national importance, around 10,000 special guests have been invited to witness the parade. These guests from different walks of life are the makers of ‘Golden India’. These include people who have performed best in various fields and made best use of government schemes.
The parade, ‘Republic Day Parade’ will start at 10.30 am and will last for approximately the same time. 90 minutes. The celebrations will begin with PM Modi’s visit to the National War Memorial, where he will lead the nation in paying tribute to the fallen heroes by laying a floral wreath. After this, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries will proceed to the salute platform on the duty path to view the parade.
The arrival of the President of India and her Indonesian counterpart will be escorted by the President’s Body Guard, the most senior regiment of the Indian Army. Both presidents will arrive in ‘traditional buggies’, a practice which returned in 2024 after a gap of 40 years.
As per tradition, the national flag will be hoisted followed by the national anthem along with a 21-gun salute using 105 mm Light Field Gun, an indigenous weapon system. The parade will begin with 300 cultural artistes from different parts of the country playing ‘Saare Jahan Se Achha’ along with musical instruments. This indigenous blend of musical instruments will resonate with the tunes, beats and hopes of the hearts of one billion Indians. The group of instruments includes Shehnai, Sundari, Nadaswaram, Bean, Mashak Bean, Ranasingha – Rajasthan, Flute, Karadi Majlu, Mohuri, Shankh, Tutari, Dhol, Gong, Nishan, Chang, Taasha, Sambal, Chenda, Idakka, Lezim, Thavil is included. , Gudum Baja, Talam and Monbah.
Flower petals will be showered in flag formation by Mi-17 1V helicopters from 129 Helicopter Unit.
This group of helicopters will be led by Group Captain Alok Ahlawat, flying the national flag. After this the parade will start with the President taking the salute. The parade will be commanded by Parade Commander Lieutenant General Bhavneesh Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area, a second generation officer. Major General Sumit Mehta, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Delhi Area will be the Parade Second-in-Command.
The proud winners of the highest gallantry awards will be followed. They include Param Vir Chakra winner Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Yogendra Singh Yadav (retd) and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar (retd), and Ashoka Chakra winner Lieutenant Colonel Jas Ram Singh (retd). The Param Vir Chakra is awarded for the most conspicuous act of bravery and self-sacrifice in the face of the enemy, while the Ashoka Chakra is awarded for acts other than bravery and self-sacrifice in the face of the enemy. ,
The march past of the marching contingent of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the military band of the Military Academy of Indonesia will also be the highlight of the ceremony. The marching contingent will have 152 members, including 190 military band members.
