PM Modi to visit Mumbai tomorrow, will dedicate projects worth Rs 29,400 crore


An official release from the Prime Minister’s Office said Prime Minister Narendra will visit Mumbai on Saturday, from where he will either launch or dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone of various projects worth about Rs 29,400 crore.

At around 5.30 pm, the Prime Minister will reach the NESCO Exhibition Center in Goregaon, Mumbai, where he will inaugurate several projects related to roads, railways and port sectors.

After that, at around 7 pm, the Prime Minister will also visit the Indian News Service (INS) Secretariat in G-Block, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai to inaugurate INS Towers.

The new building will meet the growing needs of INS members for a modern and efficient office space in Mumbai, which will serve as the nerve center for the newspaper industry in Mumbai.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the Rs 16,600 crore Thane Borivali Tunnel Project.

This twin tube tunnel between the Thane and Borivali alignment will pass beneath the Sanjay Gandhi National Park creating a direct connection between the Western Express Highway on the Borivali side and Thane Ghodbunder Road on the Thane side.

The total length of the project is 11.8 km. This will reduce the journey from Thane to Borivali by 12 km and save about 1 hour in travel time.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for tunnel work in the over Rs 6,300 crore Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project.

GMLR envisages road connectivity from Western Express Highway at Goregaon to Eastern Express Highway at Mulund.

The GMLR has a total length of approximately 6.65 kilometers and will provide direct connectivity to the new proposed airport at Navi Mumbai and the western suburbs along the Pune Mumbai Expressway.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of Kalyan Yard Remodeling and Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. Kalyan Yard will help in separating long distance and suburban traffic.

The remodeling will increase the capacity of the yard to handle more trains, reduce congestion and improve the efficiency of train operations. Gati Shakti Multimodal Cargo Terminal in Navi Mumbai will be built over an area of ​​more than 32600 square meters.

It will provide additional employment opportunities to the local people and will serve as an additional terminal to handle cement and other commodities.

Prime Minister Lokmanya Tilak will dedicate to the nation the new platform and extension of Platform No. 1 at the Terminus. 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station.

The new longer platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus can accommodate longer trains, allowing more passengers per train and improving the capacity of the station to handle increased traffic.

Platform no. 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station have been extended by 382 meters with covered shed and washable apron. This will help in increasing the trains to 24 coaches which will increase the number of passengers.

The Prime Minister will also launch the Chief Minister Youth Work Training Scheme worth approximately Rs 5600 crore.

It is an internship program that aims to address youth unemployment by providing skill enhancement and industry exposure opportunities for youth aged 18 to 30 years.
