As part of the government’s widespread strategy for Vikit India, the budget of July 2024 proposed to promote manufacturing and services
internship program. A comprehensive initiative will provide an internship to 1 crore youth in five years, which will give them a chance to work in the real -world trading environment and detect various businesses.
The program offers a monthly stipend of ₹ 5,000 and a one -time assistance of ₹ 6,000, the companies have expected to cover 10% of internships and training costs through their CSR funds.
The PM Internship Scheme targets those who have not got the opportunity due to lack of skills or training. Sitarman also noted that some companies were providing additional benefits for intern from different districts, such as housing, although these allowances were not part of the official plan.
He said that the feedback of the companies was encouraging, offering many more benefits, motivated candidates to take internships with these organizations.
The first pilot of the internship program began last year, and the second pilot began in January this year. Around 80 more companies have joined the initiative, and Sitarman expressed satisfaction with positive response within the first four months after the budget announcement.
