Jagdalpur Congress Worker Protest: Before the municipal elections, there is a political uproar in Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation of Chhattisgarh regarding the Leader of Opposition’s chamber. This uproar that has been going on for the last several days is showing no sign of stopping, in fact there has been a change of power in Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation after Congress mayor Safira Sahu joined BJP during the Lok Sabha elections.
BJP councilors have been made MIC members, while Congress councilors are now playing the role of opposition, while recently all the Congress councilors have elected Udayanath James as the Leader of Opposition of the Corporation, now there is a ruckus regarding the allocation of the chamber of the Leader of Opposition. In fact, the chamber of the 20 year old Leader of Opposition has been suddenly changed in the Municipal Corporation office. Information about this was not given to any Congress councilor or leader of opposition, due to which the Congress councilors are continuously protesting outside the corporation.
Congress surrounded the corporation office
Due to the adoption of this attitude by BJP Mayor and Corporation Commissioner, for the last few days, the Corporation Leader of Opposition and all the Congress Councilors were protesting by making the premises of the Municipal Corporation office their chamber and working, while now the Congress is protesting on the road regarding this issue. It has come down, on Thursday (July 11), under the leadership of Congress District President Sushil Maurya, the workers along with all the Congress councilors staged a protest on the main road against the Corporation Commissioner and the Mayor and surrounded the Municipal Corporation office.
No hearing took place on the application
Congress councilors say that in Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation, for the last 20 years, a fixed chamber was fixed for the Corporation Leader of Opposition, but now suddenly this chamber has been changed, Congress councilors have alleged that Mayor Safira Sahu is in BJP. After joining, the chamber has been changed out of revenge, all the Congress councilors applied to the Bastar Collector and Corporation Commissioner regarding this matter, but no hearing was held on this application.
Gave warning about locking
In such a situation, if the process of chamber allotment is not completed within 48 hours, then the Congressmen warned of locking the corporation office, despite this, the mayor and commissioner of the corporation did not allot this chamber to the leader of the opposition, due to which everyone is angry. Congress councilors and Bastar Congress Committee workers and leaders took to the streets and demonstrated against the mayor and commissioner of the corporation and surrounded the municipal corporation.
20 year old chamber was replaced
Congress District President Sushil Maurya said that after the establishment of the new building of the Corporation, the Chamber of the Leader of the Opposition was established between the Chamber of the Mayor and the Chairman, the Leader of the Opposition from both BJP and Congress parties have been sitting in this chamber for two months. Earlier, BJP’s Leader of Opposition Sanjay Pandey used to sit here, but as soon as there was a change of power in the corporation and Congress councilor Udaynath James was made the Leader of Opposition, immediately the Mayor and the Commissioner together changed the 20-year-old chamber of the Leader of Opposition.
The Congress President also said that during the Congress government itself, lakhs of rupees were spent on renovating the chamber of the Leader of Opposition, after this, after the change of power, the BJP also changed the chamber. A memorandum was sent to the Bastar Collector in protest against this stubborn attitude. Even after handing over, no hearing is being held in this matter, the District President said that the Mayor is adopting such attitude out of revenge, but the people of Jagdalpur are definitely watching the municipal elections to be held in the coming days. The public will teach a lesson to BJP.
