Pope Francis’s position “is important”, the Vatican said on Saturday, the 88-year-old was vigilant, but there was a respiratory attack that required “high-flower oxygen”, and also blood transfers.
The Vatican said in its regular evening update, “The position of the holy father remains important, therefore, as stated tomorrow, the Pope is not out of danger.”
“This morning Pope Francis presented a long-term asthma respiratory crisis, which also required the application of high-flow oxygen,” it said.
The daily blood test “showed thrombocytopenia associated with anemia, which requires the administration of blood transfusions”, this couple.

Francis was admitted to Jamelli Hospital in Rome with bronchitis on 14 February, but it turned into pneumonia in both lungs, creating a wider alarm.
Pontif’s doctors told a press conference on Friday that there was no imminent risk for his life, but he was “not out of danger”.
