Preparation to merge 800 government schools in Himachal, Finance Commission delegation also gave advice


Himachal Pradesh Government Schools: Himachal Pradesh government is preparing to merge 800 government schools. Its process has been started. Earlier last year also, the state government had merged 700 government schools. The government is merging such schools where the number of students is less.

In government schools where enrollment has decreased in the recent past, the schools will be merged. Apart from this, preparations have also been made to merge schools with zero enrollment with nearby schools. About 700 such schools have been identified, which are to be merged with other schools within a radius of one or two kilometers.

Focus on improving the education system

Education Minister Rohit Thakur said, “There are a total of 16 thousand educational institutions in Himachal.” The government is working to provide adequate staff and other better facilities in all these educational institutions. There is a need for change now to strengthen the education sector.

He also said that 2 thousand 200 teachers are being recruited batch wise in the state, so that the vacant posts of teachers in schools can be filled soon. Parameters have also been fixed for this. 350 schools are running without teachers in the state. Apart from this, there are 3 thousand 200 schools where only one teacher is posted.

Similarly, there are about 800 schools of excellence. Deploying teachers in these schools will be a priority. Rohit Thakur said that the government is also preparing to start pre-primary schools soon. For this, NTT teachers are soon being recruited in pre-primary schools.

The delegation of the 16th Finance Commission also gave advice

Recently the delegation of 16th Finance Commission had visited Himachal. Here the state government presented its poor financial condition in front of the Finance Commission delegation. The Finance Commission delegation had also advised the Himachal Pradesh government to close such schools where the number of students is less.

The state government is also continuously working on this policy. The state government is taking these steps on the advice of the Finance Commission and to use its resources in the right direction.

Budget of Rs 9 thousand 560 crore for education

The literacy rate may be better in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh, but qualitative education here seems to be away for a long time. In the budget for the year 2024-25, the government led by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had announced to spend Rs 9 thousand 560 crore in the field of education.

Himachal Pradesh government had also decided to open five Rajiv Gandhi Model Day Boarding Schools in the state in the first phase to provide excellent education system. These places include Lahdu, Nagrota Bagwan, Amlehar, Bhoranj and Sannai.
