Lok Sabha leader, Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday.
During his address to Parliament, Rahul Gandhi while speaking in the Lok Sabha said that the House needs to discuss the issue of voters.
He said, “Questions are being raised in the voter list in every state. In Maharashtra, the black and white voter list was questioned. The entire opposition is just saying that there should be a discussion in the voter’s list.”
On the other hand, Priyanka Gandhi took the social media platform X and said that the government should allow discussion on the issue in Parliament.
He further said that the report of manipulation in the voter list appeared only before the elections and “very dangerous” for democracy.
“The way the report of manipulation in the voter list comes before every election, it is very dangerous for our democracy. The entire opposition in Parliament wants a detailed discussion on the voter list. This discussion is very important for democracy and security of the constitution. The government should give up its persistence and allow this discussion.”
He also shared the demands made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha that the issue of the list of voters should be discussed.
Earlier on 6 March, a delegation of Trinamool Congress met Election Commission officials in Kolkata about their complaints about the same Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number.
However, ECI has clarified that having the same Electors Photo Identity Card (Epic) Number does not mean that there are duplicate or fake voters.
