Banks of Himachal Pradesh will be closed today to mark Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Ravidas, also known as Radus, was a devotional movement saint and poet since the 15th -16th century.
Banks will be closed due to local elections. The holiday allows employees to cast their votes without disintegration.
The Delhi government has declared a public holiday for Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Government offices, autonomous bodies and public undertakings will also be closed.
However, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has not yet confirmed that if banks in Delhi will inspect the holiday.
Banking services are still available
Although physical bank branches are closed in affected states, digital banking services are operational. Customers can use UPI, Internet banking and mobile banking for transactions.
