Researchers at Stony Brook University awarded 2025 Breakthrough Award in Fundamental Physics News

University researchers are part of recognition for large headron collider experiments of CERN

Stony Brook, NY -April 10, 2025-Members of Stony Brook University Department of Physics and Astronomy were among the 2025 success prizes in the fundamental physical support in the recognition of their experimental collaborations with CERN’s (“Conseil Européen Pouropéen Pouropén PourPé Nucléare” or “European Organization for Nuclear Research”). Awards – popularly known as “Oscar® of Science” – Sergei Brin, Prisla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg, Julia and Yuri Milner, and Anne Wojikki were created to celebrate the miracle of the scientific era by the establishment of Anne Wojikki.

Three additional teams working on experiments in Cern Chief Ministers (Compact Muon Solanoid), Alice (Uses a large ion collider) and LHC-B (Large Hadron Collider Beauty) was also the recipient of the award.

“Stony Brook’s Hep-Atlas team has contributed significantly to our understanding of physics, which can be in the dark case for the Higgs Boson particle, and I honestly congratulate him for the work that has earned him this tremendous recognition,” Carl W. Lejuj, Executive Vice President and Professor said. “Furthermore, the award assumes that scientists come from the teams of scientists working together in academic departments, institutions and countries. These cooperation are important to strengthen our understanding of the world around us and to empower us to empower them to answer intensive questions and start addressing important issues even beyond society, planets and perhaps beyond.”

The award was awarded with collaboration for their “Higgs Boson properties of the detailed measurement of the Boson properties, which confirms the large-scale generation-ravaging mechanisms, discovering newly interacted particles, studying rare processes and case-antimatter inequality, and in the shortest distance, in search of nature and the shortest distances.” (Breakthrough prize press release,

“Stony Brooke Hep-Atlas Group has been contributing significantly to the experiment since the establishment of cooperation and use,” said Jung Ki Jung of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Department of Physics and Astronomy. “I am glad that LHC experiments are being recognized by the Breakthrough Foundation for their achievements and are very proud of our hep-tlas group members. In the era of mega science, often, often can be judged by reducing contribution by many worthy scientists. Therefore, the Breakthrough Foundation is doing something that reflects the realities of modern science, and it is a very susceptible.

This year’s success in fundamental physics was awarded to thousands of researchers representing four practical cooperation to thousands of researchers from more than 70 countries. In consultation with the leaders of the experiments, the Breakthrough Prize Foundation will donate 100 percent of the $ 3 million award fund to Cern & Society Foundation. The award amount will be used by colleagues to give grants to doctoral students of member institutes to spend the research time in CERN, making students feel at the forefront of science and new expertise so that they can bring back to their domestic countries and regions.
