Srinagar:
A fashion show held in Jammu and Kashmir during the fasting month of Ramadan has been flagged off with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, stating that he completely “understood” the shocks and anger of the people. The event was held at Ski Resort in Gulmarg, in which there was extensive criticism from political as well as religious quarters.
Pictures shared online shown “semi-naked”, who walk on the ramp in skimp with critics, arguing that it has demolished the state’s cultural values.
Mr. Abdullah has sought a report in this regard within 24 hours and assured action.
The Chief Minister said, “The shock and anger makes a complete understanding. The pictures I have seen, they completely disregard for local sensitivity and even during this holy month,”
Omar Farooq, the chief priest of Jama Masjid in Srinagar and president of the separatist Hurriyat Sammelan, called it “abusive” and said that pornography would not be tolerated in the name of tourism promotion.
“Unaware! A porn fashion show is held in Gulmarg in the holy month of Ramadan, from which people have viral sparking shock and anger among people. How can it be tolerated in the valley, which is known for the Sufi, saint culture and its deep religious perspectives of its people?
Mr. Abdullah said that his office is in touch with local authorities.
Raja Muzaffar Bhat, a social worker, said the event was an attempt to demolish the moral and moral values ââof Kashmir.
“Who allowed this naked fashion show in Gulmarg in Holy Ramadan? A semi-naked man and women running on snow. Will the tourism department, CEO GDA throw some light? Why are you obliged to demolish our moral, moral, cultural and religious values ââ(SICs)?” He said in an online post.
