According to an internal memorandum mentioned by The New York Times, he believes that this effort is important to lead to the creation of Artificial General Intelligence (Agi) for Google, a point where machines exclude humans.
In Memo, Brin wrote, “I recommend being at least every week in the office,” and said, “60 hours a week is a sweet place of productivity.” He warned that it may cause burnout to go beyond, as mentioned in a single memorandum.
He also stated that according to an internal shared document this week, “less work or only minimal” is not only unproductive, but can be highly derogatory for all. ,
The push comes when the AI Development started in 2022, the rivalry among the tech firms has increased, a fact that Brin exposed in his memorandum: “The competition has accelerated and the last race for AGI.”
He insisted that if its team completes his work, Google may come to the top.
Although the current rule of Google, as stated, requires only three days a week in the office, Brin’s request fits into a broad shift, where companies are cutting back on house options from flexible work to improve output, a trend seen in businesses.
He also asked the Gemini team to use Google’s AI tool for coding, saying that according to the memo, “using our own AI should aim to be the most efficient coders and AI scientists in the world,” according to the memo.
Brin wrapped it saying, “I think we have all the material to win this race, but we have to turbocharged our efforts.”
