While a pile of plans exists, the ASCI-NITI Aayog report, ‘Designing a policy for medium enterprises,’ highlights that most of these, and a significant part of allocated funds, is in favor of micro and small enterprises, probably leaving medium-sized businesses in a policy interval.
- Maharashtra For medium enterprises, it offers a wide array of incentives, including capital and investment subsidy, marketing aid, and stamp duty reimbursement, by expanding all its eight MSME-related schemes. A remarkable initiative is its women’s policy 2024, which aims to promote entrepreneurship among women.
- Tamil Nadu Schemes such as back-ended interest subsidy providing 3% interest runners-up on term loans for technology upgradation for MSMEs. Its plot/shed allotment policy, 2016, provides MSME in achieving industrial places through a transparent process.
- Uttar Pradesh A significant 84% of its 19 MSME schemes applied to medium enterprises, including Flagship One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, provides training and toolkit to artisans. The pledge scheme encourages the development of private industrial parks with adequate land reservation for MSMES and stamp duty exemption.
- Gujarat With unique offerings such as rehabilitation of sick enterprises and assistance for general environment infrastructure, makes all its 16 MSME schemes accessible to medium enterprises.
- West Bengal Banglashree scheme offers a bundle of encouragement for medium enterprises, including significant interest and SGST subsidy, and exemption on power duty.
- Telangana Champions ease of trading with their TG -at-soon, a single-window clearance approval usually within 15 days. The state has also targeted the initiatives like T-Pride for SC/ST entrepreneurs and is conducting innovative revenue-based financing for MSMEs.
