Pradosh Vrat Katha-Story: The first Pradosh fast of the year will be observed after 2 days. Pradosh fast is observed every month on Trayodashi date of Krishna and Shukla Paksha. Pradosh fast story-story
According to the legend, there lived a Brahmin in a city. Her husband had passed away. He had no support now. Therefore, as soon as the morning came, she would go out with her son to beg. She used to feed herself and her son. One day when the Brahmin was returning home, she found a boy groaning in an injured state. The Brahmin brought him to her home out of pity. That boy was the prince of Vidarbha. Enemy soldiers had attacked his kingdom and taken his father captive and had taken control of the kingdom, so he was wandering around. The prince started living in a Brahmin’s house with his Brahmin son.
One day when a Gandharva girl named Anshumati saw the prince, she fell in love with him. The next day Anshumati brought her parents to meet the prince. He also liked the prince. A few days later, Lord Shankar ordered Anshumati’s parents in a dream to get the prince and Anshumati married, which was done. Along with observing Pradosh fast, Brahmini used to worship Lord Shankar. With the influence of Pradosh Vrat and the help of Gandharvaraj’s army, the prince drove away the enemies from Vidarbha and started living happily with his father again. The prince made the Brahmin’s son his prime minister. It is believed that just as the days change due to the effect of Pradosh fast of a Brahmin, similarly Lord Shankar changes the days of his devotees.
