Many people know about strict challenges with plastic waste polluting the sea, but new research suggests that it can harm wildlife before not being understood before. In a new study published in the Journal of Environmental Pollution Journal, researchers at the University of California, Santa Cruz and San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance found that plastic was swallowed by northern Phulmars – North Atlantic and Northern Pacific may interfere with the hormone systems of cibords – birds found in North Pacific Oceans.
