The court only wants to know where these Rohingya families are living, whose house and their details are, Justice Surya Kant and a bench of N. Kotiswar Singh did not discriminate in the education point.
Senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves, who was present for NGO Rohingya Human Rights Initiative, said that he has filed an affidavit giving details and reported that Rohingya refugees have UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) cards.
Justice Surya Kant said that these Rohingya families have these cards for NGOs.
Gonsalves then sought some time to submit more details to the court.
The apex court posted the case for further hearing after 10 days.
On 31 January, the apex court asked the NGO to ask the court to make them aware of the court, where the Rohingya refugees settled in the city and accessible facilities for them. It also asked Gonsalves to file an affidavit indicating their disposal places in Delhi.
Gonsalves said that the NGO sought access to public schools and hospitals to Rohingya refugees, as they were denied access to Aadhaar card due to lack of Aadhaar cards.
He said, “They are refugees, who have refugees (the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees) cards and hence they cannot have an Aadhaar card. But they are not being accessible to public schools and hospitals for Aadhaar,” He presented.
Gonsalves said that Rohingya refugees lived in Shaheen Bagh, Kalindi Kunj and Khajuri special areas of Delhi.
He said, “He is living in slums in Shaheen Bagh and Kalindi Kunj and in Khajuri Khas he is living in a rented residence,” he presented.
The apex court had said that it had asked to understand the questions whether they live in camps, the nature of relief would be different from one mentioned in the pilot.
The PIL has sought a direction to the authorities to free all Rohingya children from the cost despite the Aadhaar card and allow them to participate in all examinations including class 10 and 12 and graduates, without the government’s request on ID proof.
