An official said on Tuesday that the Maoists killed two men, one of them, their former colleague, a village in a village in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, on suspicion of being police informer, an officer said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday night under the Taram police station area in Bagdicheru village, he said.

A group of unidentified Maoists marched into the village and dragged Karam Raju (32) and Madadi Munna (27) from their homes. The official said that they kill their throat with sharp -edged weapons, killing him on the spot.

After the villagers were alerted, a police team reached the spot in the morning and sent the bodies for postmortem, he said.

Raju was once an active Maoist who later surrendered and was leading a normal life in the village.

The investigation revealed that Munna was attacked by the Maoists in the past, which was even after accusing him of acting as a police informer. The official said that Munna’s elder brother was murdered a few years ago by Maoists in Potali village of neighboring Dantewada district.

So far this year, 50 Maoists have been killed by security forces in different encounters in the state. Police said that last year 219 Maoists were neutralized by security forces in Chhattisgarh.
