King Raman Rajamnan of Kerala’s Mannan community will attend the 76th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on 26 January. King Rajamannan will also be accompanied by his wife Binumol. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Kelu entrusted the invitation of Republic Day to the tribal king. This will be the first time a tribal king will join the Republic Day parade in Delhi.
The only tribal king of Kerala Rajamnan and his wife left for Delhi on Wednesday. They will visit various places after the parade and return on 2 February. The cost of the yatra will be borne by the Scheduled Caste Development Department, Minister Kelu said in a social media post.
He will wear a headgier (Thalppav) and traditional clothes, marking the special occasion and will be assisted by two ministers and soldiers during the ceremony.
The tribal clan living in 48 settlements of Rajamnan Idukki district is the head of 300 families of Mannan. King Mannan holds a special place in the rituals and celebrations of the community.
He took over his small kingdom after the death of Aryan Rajamnan in 2012. Graduates in economics lead a simple life as a farmer. He has no palace or chariot. Instead, he lives in an ordinary house and manages a local temple with his family.
According to the report of The Indian Express, the king has no rights or duty in civil society, but he has four sub -kings (representatives), one Ilyiaja (prince) and 50 -member Council of Ministers, known as Kanis, Help leads to community matters.
Allegedly, the Mannan community follows the maternal system, which means that women have the right to inheritance.
