Sustainability certificates such as FairTred, Renforest Alliance and Coco Life promise to improve small scale cocoa producers’ livelihood by preserving biodiversity on their gardens. In collaboration with the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, researchers at the University of Gotingen have investigated whether the stability certificates actually achieve these two goals.
