This actor still regrets playing the character of Shiva in ‘Om Namah Shivay’


Samar Jai Singh Career: In the 90s, there were many such serials which made people crazy. Especially mythological shows. People used to wait to see these shows. People used to watch it leaving their work or finishing their time. One of these shows was Om Namah Shivay. Samar Jai Singh played the role of Lord Shiva in this show. Samar became famous in every household with this show. Not only this, people started considering him as Lord Shiva. Wherever he went, people used to call him Bhole Baba and there used to be a crowd. But this very character of his had overshadowed his career. After the show it became difficult for him to get work.

Samar had worked in many serials before Om Namah Shivay but he got his real identity by playing the role of Lord Shiva. Everyone had become crazy about him. There used to be a crowd of people seeing him, due to which he had reduced going out of the house.

Career suffered loss
Samar had signed a contract for only 52 episodes for Om Namah Shivay. Which he did not renew again and left the show. When Samar turned to films after the serial, he had to face rejection. He had told in an interview that because of the role of Shivji, he was rejected in films at the last moment. The makers felt that people had the same image as Lord Shiva in their minds. Because of which they will not be able to see him in any other role. After which he started feeling that it would have been better if he had not played the role of Lord Shiva.

Samar later got a chance to work in Sunny Deol’s film Gadar. He played the role of a Pakistani Army officer. After that, Samar also worked in many TV shows but that did not work out. Now run my own acting school. In which he gives training to the youth.
