New Delhi. In India, Jaguar has de-listed its I-Pace electric SUV from its website. It is being told that the company has discontinued it in the Indian market. According to the report of Overdrive, the company has removed I-Pace from the website, after which now the company is left with only one model, F-Pace. The last price of Jaguar I-Pace was Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom).
Jaguar I-Pace was launched in India in 2021 and was a huge hit product for the brand. It was one of the first luxury EVs in the country and competed with the Audi e-tron and Mercedes EQC. It was introduced with a 90kWh lithium-ion battery, two electric motors (one on each axle) and a range of 470 km as per WLTP. The electric motors were capable of delivering 400PS power and 696Nm torque.
Why was I-Pace discontinued?
Despite being a hit product in the global market, one of the main reasons for discontinuing I-Pace in India is the huge decline in its sales. The Audi Q8 e-tron surpassed the success of the e-tron and is still in demand. Mercedes Benz India did not get any success with EQC but then did not wait too long to replace it with EQE SUV and apart from this they also launched many other EVs like EQB, EQS and now EQA has also been launched . BMW, which came late to this EV space, has actually been the most successful here and the iX SUV is the star of the show.
As far as the I-Pace is concerned, Jaguar never updated the car to keep it up to standards. Yes, when the car was launched, there was a lot of buzz about the car in terms of its looks, large battery capacity and driving nature. Its unusual shape makes it fun to drive. The interior of the car itself was fantastic. But after 3 years, the car has not managed to keep up with its German rivals.
At present, Jaguar has not given any information about launching any new car in India soon. The F-Pace is still doing well for the brand and is priced at Rs 72.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in both petrol and diesel. Let us tell you that Land Rover Jaguar is a company owned by Tata Group.
