Air Traffic Controller Audio captures moments before Washington Plane Crash
An air traffic control audio recorded a few moments before and after the passenger jet crashed with a helicopter of the US Army.
Audio from Liveatc.net, a respected source for in-slight recording, captured the final communication between three crew members of the Chopper before hitting the CRJ700 Bombardier Jet.
“Pat 25, do you have CRJ? PAT25, passes behind CRJ,” an air traffic controller said at 8:47 pm (ET) on Wednesday. “
Later, another aircraft called the air traffic control, saying, “Tower, have you seen?” – Apparently mention of accident.
An air traffic controller again rejected the aircraft leading to runway 33 at Reagan Washington National Airport.
“Crash, Crash, Crash, this is an alert three,” one of the air traffic controllers can be heard saying in the audio from the time of the accident.

Another controller said, “I don’t know if you had caught what happened earlier, but the approach in 33 collided. We are going to stop operations for an indefinite future,” said another controller.
“Both the helicopters and the aircraft crashed into the river,” a third air traffic controller could be heard saying.
“It was probably in the middle of the river,” the controller said.
The controller said, “I only saw a fire ball and then it had just gone. I have not seen anything since hitting the river. But it was a CRJ and a helicopter that took a hit,” the controller said.
