Washington:
President Donald Trump suggested that Ukraine President Volodimir Zelanski should not have opposed Russia’s invasion, citing vital power imbalances between the two countries, in an interview by Fox News. Trump said, “Zelancesi was fighting a very large unit, very big, much more powerful,” Trump said, insisting that Russia’s better army could make resistance fruitless. “He should not have done this, because we could have a deal”.
Trump’s stance on the conflict lies in his belief that Zelansky should have interacted with Russian President Vladimir Putin to avoid war. “I could have done the deal so easily, and Zelansky decided that ‘I wanted to fight,” Trump claimed, saying that the decision to oppose Zelanceci was misled. This perspective is contrary to the former President who Biden, who supported Ukraine’s right to protect himself to defend himself on Russia in response to a continuous invasion.
The Ukraine-Russia conflict resulted in disastrous damage, the number of estimated casualties in hundreds of thousands. Despite the severity of the situation, Trump has expressed doubts about the leadership of Zelancesi, suggesting that he should have prevented the war from happening. However, he also said that if Russia does not soon go to resolve this war, the US will implement “large -scale tariffs” and “large restrictions” on Russia. Meanwhile, Biden praised Zelanceci’s leadership and provided significant assistance to Ukraine.
In September, Trump met Zelancesi and stated that he would work a deal “it is good for both sides”. Before meeting him, he told reporters “We are going to do a lot of work with both sides to decide and solve it.”
Trump’s comments on the conflict have also questioned his attitude towards foreign policy. While he claimed that he would end the war within a day, his comment on Ukraine’s decision to oppose Russia’s invasion has expressed concern about his understanding of conflicts and its complications. Furthermore, the end of war does not seem at sight.
