President Donald Trump dismissed at least a dozen internal government guards late on Friday night, the US media reported that the latest shake-up of Republican’s second term after less than a week in the office.

Independent inspectors of at least 12 federal agencies were informed about their immediate dismissal through the email of the Personnel Director of the White House, the Washington Post stated that citing people familiar with the action.

Inspectors General has an overseas role to detect and prevent fraud, waste and misconduct by government employees.

They are responsible for investigating violations of laws, regulations and moral standards by employees and conducting contracts, finance and performance audit.

Federal agencies affected by osters were the departments of defense, state, internal and energy as well as the environmental protection agency and social security administration departments.

According to the post, “this is a widespread massacre,” said one of the Inspectors fired. “Whatever trump now puts will be seen as loyalists, and it weakens the entire system.”

The newspaper said that during his first term, most of the people fired by Trump were appointed.

The New York Times cited three anonymous people with knowledge of dismissal, saying that 17 inspectors were fired, and a source said that the sentinel of the Department of Justice was not affected.

Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren called the firing “a parj … in the middle of the night”.

In a post on social media platform X, he said, “Inspector General has been accused of stopping government waste, fraud, misconduct and misconduct.”
