UPI, a widely used real -time payment system, processes billions of transactions globally.
The partnership aims to provide UPI as a payment method for more than 12 million Indian tourists who visit the United Arab Emirates each year.
This initiative begins with UPI approval for Dubai duty free, which completes many Indian travelers. The plan is to expand UPI approval in other areas including retail, hospitality, transport and supermarkets.
NIPL CEO Ritesh Shukla said that cooperation provides Indian travelers a familiar and convenient payment method abroad.
He said that its aim is to strengthen economic and cultural relations between India and the UAE.
Managing Director of Magnetic, Salim Avan, said that the partnership expands the payment channels in the UAE, making it easier for Indian visitors and NRIs to pay cross -border payments.
Dubai Duty Free CEO Ramesh Sidambi mentioned that the integration of UPI in the payment system offers a fast and safe option for both traders and customers.
Since UPI continues to expand internationally, this is a step towards increasing the partnership border pay payments and promoting digital payments on boundaries.
NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) was established in April 2020 as a subsidiary of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
The company focuses on expanding India’s digital payment solutions globally.
