The Al Jazeera network has broadcast unseen footage of Yahya Sinwar – who led Hamas’ 2023 offensive – three months after he was killed during an Israeli operation in Gaza. The footage shows Sinwar directing military operations in the Rafah area in the Gaza battlefield. The Palestinian leader is seen wearing a military jacket, holding a stick and covered with a blanket. Outside, it’s all ruins, a visual depiction of what war is like.

According to local media reports, a graffiti of the Hebrew word “North” has been seen on the wall of the building where Sinwar briefly stayed – suggesting that Israeli forces raided the house before they got there Was.
In another scene, Sinwar is seen with another man in a polo shirt, and a map spread out in front of them.
The network also reportedly ran a scene of the order that Sinwar, then head of Hamas, had signed to launch the October 7 attack.
Who was Yahya Sinwar?
Sinwar, who had risen from the ranks of Hamas, was killed during an Israeli strike on October 18 last year, just hours after he was seen carrying his belongings into a Gaza tunnel.
Israel accuses him of masterminding the October 7 attacks, the deadliest attack in its history that sparked conflict in the Middle East and brought sharp divisions between the West and other pro-Palestinian countries.
Footage released by Israel on 18 October showed a fragile Sinwar during his final moments. In his last attempt to fight back, he was seen throwing an object at the drone that was filming him. Israel later dropped leaflets with Sinwar’s image and a message that “Hamas will no longer rule Gaza”.

The Middle East has been conflict-ridden since October 7, 2023, when Hamas activists and their allies ransacked Israeli towns across the Gaza border, killing at least 1,200 people and abducting another 250 civilians and soldiers. In response, Israel began attacking Gaza with ground operations as well as airstrikes. Hamas claims that Israeli actions have caused the deaths of more than 47,000 people in the Gaza Strip.
Sinwar’s latest footage comes as Israel and Hamas briefly renounced violence in exchange for prisoners and hostages under a ceasefire agreement aimed at bringing peace to the Middle East and ending years of conflict. Have to end.
