Water challenges the rescue team in the Telangana tunnel collapsed

Hyderabad:

Mute mixed with extended water over 200 meters challenged the rescue team trying to bring out eight laborers trapped for more than 24 hours in a collapsed tunnel in Nagarkarnool district of Telangana. The roof part of the 44-km long tunnel located behind the Srisailam dam fell at 8:30 am yesterday. While dozens of workers managed to escape, at least eight workers who were inside to repair a leakage. There is no contact with the workers after the accident as an internal communication system failed yesterday.

Four NDRF teams are on the way to the fall, while many agencies are already engaged in rescue operations.

A brief report of collapse states that the shifting boulder’s noise has indicated the roof in the collapsing site. The report states that water is coming out of a fracture on the edge of the tunnel wall, the report states, which requires dewting before the rescue operation.

The report estimated that the collapsed roof period is 200 meters, about 13 km from the tunnel mouth.

Exclusive footage from inside the tunnel called the trapped laborers trapped this morning to the trapped laborers, hopefully their response will help them find out.

An NDRF official said that a rescue team went inside the tunnel last night. He covered 11 km on a locomotive and the remaining 2 km on a conveyor belt. “When we arrived at the end of the tunnel boring machine, we called their (workers) names, but did not get the reply,” he said.

He said that the tunnel is full of water and workers cannot be located until the debris is cleaned.

The situation is being monitored at both state and central levels round-the-clock. The Union Home Ministry is in touch with the state government and concerned departments for assistance.
