New Delhi, The decision on whether Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, caught in the liquor scam, will come out of jail or not will be taken on Friday. Kejriwal had approached the Supreme Court against the ED arrest. Today the court will give its verdict in this case. This will be important in this case also, because only two days ago the ED has presented the charge sheet in the High Court, in which Kejriwal has been named as the main accused in the scam.
When Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED, he reached the Supreme Court. He had described his arrest as illegal. A two-member bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta had reserved the verdict in this case on May 17 after a long hearing. The Supreme Court had clarified that Kejriwal would be entitled to approach the lower court for bail even if the Supreme Court has reserved its decision and this would be without prejudice to the arguments of the parties.
The Supreme Court itself had granted bail
The Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on June 1 for the Lok Sabha elections. Later he surrendered on June 2 as per the court order. Earlier on June 20, Kejriwal was granted bail by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. The ED moved the High Court the next day and argued that the trial court’s order was perverse, one-sided and wrong. The conclusions reached by the court were not based on relevant facts.
it is not easy to come out
After this, on June 21, Delhi High Court had put an interim stay on the bail order of the lower court to Kejriwal. A few days later, on June 26, the CBI arrested the Chief Minister of Delhi. Even if the Supreme Court grants him bail, it is still not easy for Kejriwal to come out. Because in the CBI case he will still have to get bail.
