New Delhi. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah officially announced the name of the new head coach of the Indian team on Tuesday evening, July 9. Former Indian cricket team opener Gautam Gambhir has been made the new head coach of Team India. It has been told in a report that Gautam Gambhir wanted to make Jonty Rhodes the fielding coach of Team India. But BCCI has rejected his request.
A report in Hindustan Times said that Gambhir wanted to make Jonty Rhodes the fielding coach of Team India but BCCI did not agree to his request. This is because BCCI wants that all the team staff should be Indians. No foreign player should be included in this. Let us tell you that Jonty Rhodes is considered the best fielder in the world. He has worked for Lucknow Supergiants in the IPL of 2022 and 2023. There, Gautam Gambhir was also with him.
Not Virat Kohli or Rohit SharmaâĤ James Anderson called this Indian batsman great
Jonty Rhodes, considered the world’s greatest fielder and South African legend, played 52 Tests and 245 ODI matches for South Africa from 1992 to 2003. He scored more than 8,000 runs at a batting average of 35.66 in Tests and 35.11 in ODIs. Jonty is known for his excellent fielding.
Only T Dilip can remain the fielding coach
A report also states that T Dilip will retain his role as fielding coach. His work in the last season has been amazing. However, BCCI has not yet made an official announcement regarding the appointment of support staff and a decision will be taken soon.
