Winter Holidays: Will school holidays be extended in Haryana? – CNBC TV18



The northern region of India is in the grip of severe cold, the situation has been made worse by dense fog and rain. It has become difficult for students to even go to school during this harsh weather. Due to the ongoing cold wave conditions, many schools across the country have extended winter vacations. Some schools are also providing the facility of online classes to the students.

As per the order of the Directorate of Education, all government and private schools in Haryana were closed for winter holidays from January 1 to January 15, 2025. The official orders specify that schools will reopen on January 16, 2025.

However, due to adverse weather conditions in the state, the school timings in Ambala and Kurukshetra districts have been extended by two more days. According to reports, schools will remain closed on January 16 and 17.

Additionally, various districts of Uttar Pradesh have also extended winter holidays for school students up to class 8. In Ghaziabad, schools are expected to reopen for students on January 20, 2025.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted isolated rainfall activity over Haryana on Thursday, January 16. According to the IMD bulletin, the minimum temperature dropped by 1-3 degrees Celsius in different parts of Haryana.

There is a possibility of dense to very dense fog in some parts of Haryana during night and morning hours. The weather agency has also predicted dense fog conditions during night and morning hours in different parts of Haryana from January 18 to 20.

Depending on the weather, school authorities may extend the holidays. Students and parents are advised to contact their respective school authorities for more information and details regarding school closure.
